Man what a busy little track. Well it is 2.4 miles so not that small. Was looking for a good result from this puppy especially since I was faster in the P1 car than P2. Had a bad start but a good battle with Alex and Jim early on. Started making my way into the top 10 and pressuring Jim who was running surprisingly good for not racing in a while. So I started applying a little pressure and sure enough he looped it. Rut Roo, I tried to avoid him but where he spun offloads the car so I had little grip to avoid him and we kissed...yuck. Twice...lol. Drove two more laps until the tires were abused trying to make up for the lack of a splitter. Car was never the same after that. Soldered on to the finish hoping for some attrition....NOT....lol.
Great race everyone and glad to see Bob and Jim back.

I sent Jim some comments about my race so I won't spoil what he'll be posting later, but I did want to mention that on lap 18, I had a major moment when my game froze for 13 seconds, as determined by the amount of time I lost on that lap. I'm sure that nobody needed Team Speak to hear me yelling at the blankety-blank game to get going again. I figured I was doomed but somehow it got going again -- I was very lucky. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Sandy who ran out of gas at just about the last possible moment. I was really sad to see that happen after he'd run a flawless race. This is the second time another driver's misfortune has handed me a victory, and I hesitate to even ponder what will happen to me when it's my turn under the Hammer of Karma...

Well it was a great race, I think everyone was having their own battles from what I could see, I was too busy chasing Terry, Dave and Tom (I think it was tom up at the front of the pack). The battle went on right up to my stop, since I didn't see the 30 minute warning I adjusted the refuel to the max amount (36 laps worth) and 9 seconds later I'm leaving the pits, sure enough Terry keeps his spot ahead of me, and is soon slowly pulling away, I think Greg had an off and wound up behind me, and I was just about able to keep ahead of him, I think Dave also wound up behind me somehow, so I was being hounded. I was going to be quite happy with 5th considering I started in 6th and the car found a second of extra speed (why it didn't do that in qualifying is beyond me), and somehow I managed to make the race with one stop when I thought I had messed up by under fueling the car for the start of the race (24 laps), but then Sandy had his fuel problem, and then Terry was driving into the pits and I pinched 3rd by 3 seconds and I think it all happened on the last two laps It was a close race all round, I was only able to just about keep up with the others, I couldn't get past though, I would get under steer, or I screwed up a little on exiting a corner.

An apologies to Nick and Susan. I think I may have bumped them at least a couple of times. In my defense I was having frame rate problems. It got so bad that I retired because I was a menace to myself and everyone else.
I have problems again and I don't want to belabor them. So it will probably be next season before I'll be racing again.
Luck to all, bob

surprised myself with a pb qual in the :14's for 3rd. paul and sandy checked out after i stuck with them for a few laps--had a long long close run with tom for position. big mistake starting on mediums instead of hards, after the fuel only stop the p2 mazdarati was fubar. i was losing grip and the rf was almost gone. while holding up at least 3 faster cars within a few carlengths, i desperately tried to make my car stay consistent apex to apex. my low :17s were turning into :18's no matter how i drove. had contact with terry's quicker momo at the hairpin and got freight trained back to 7th. managed to bring it home 5th after sandy's fuel trouble. great racing, great track--bad bad tire choice. didn't have any screenfreezes just a couple low fps slideshow moments. can't blame the warp this time

No problem with being bumped. I was way slow and also had screen freezes. Wish I knew how to stop them. Anyone have an Idea? Nick

I spent a lot of time practicing for this race but it looks like I totaly missed on my setup. Qualified 4th about a second off the pace and ran there until I spun in the last corner on lap 2 and fell back to about 10th. Slowly made up spots and got up to 5th but then spun again in T1 moving me back to about P8. I started on hard tires and they worked well for the first stint but started to fall of a lot after my pit stop because of my miss use of them attempting to make up time. Had some great battles with Greg. Tom and a couple of there's.
Congrat's to the podioum, cya all at Surfers

Dave, I found out early in testing that this track was very bad for overheating the tires. So I moved the weight all the way to the rear in an effort to control front tire heating and wear and then balanced the setup with suspension settings. Seemed to work because the last lap of the race, when I was driving hard to cut the gap to Sandy, I still was able to do a 15.6 compared to a 15.2 best. BTW, we're at Reims, not Surfers next time. Just wanted to let you know before you hopped a jet to the wrong side of the planet...

Hi Dave,
I will fix that tonight. The race report is listed in the thread right above this one. If you click on the PORRS 2008, look at the very top.
