Long Beach Post Race

Well that was the shortest race I've run this season. Nick comes out of the pits after repairs on lap 3 and stops just before T1 to let us leader by and Doc who is also coming out of the pits punts Nick into me causing me to flip over and wreck my motor, mean while eveyone that was running behind me can't avoid the pile up in T1 and they have there own major pile up.

I JUST got by that pileup, I wondered what happened. I decided about 1/2 way through the race to not pit and ran out of gas about 200 yards past the line.
I was distracted by some long chat at one point, which turned out to be "flaming", then spun and waited till the track was clear before turning around which cost me 2 spots...but at least I never wrecked the 3 or 4 guys that were behind me so I'll give myself a pat on the back for that .
Great track but fer sure another tough one, THANKS again Ced for the races!

urgh! - I'm terrible afraid that I'm the one to blame for the - erhm - chatting. But I did really flip Smokey's ADC racer over on it's back! I swear, I wanted nothing else than to go on your inside and don't feel I could avoid contact. Please accept my apology, Smokey.

Will see replay later and also check the accident, but wanted to say sorry first.

I guess I owe everyone an apology. I just didn't expect nick to PARK in T1. Dave esp, and anyone else who got damaged in the T1 melee, hear me out.

I was in a rather huge hurry after being started from the pits (@#$%&*), then got a BF which was totally my fault, but my emotions were up. I had just come off my black flag trip through the pits, and Nick parks it in T1. I was totally unprepaired for that one.

Other than that I think I jacked Jan, who musta had some wheelspin or something. Didn't expect that either. And I slapped Brent a good one. Can't remember what happened there. I made up for both of those by giving plenty of room later on though, I think.

I tried to flip Smokey back over, then I drove like hell was chasing. Was glad to see checkers. ;D

All things considered, it wasn't a completely horrible race. But I am still rather vexed about the whole start thing.

I must be the most unlucky SOB in this series. Or the dumbest, haven't figured out yet if it's BOTH or just one. ;D

Racereport, Long Beach.

A mishap in qual gave a P10, the start sucked too. Still not entirely sure of what "Green, green, green" means. Lost 3-4 places before T1 but got a couple back in T1. And 2-3 in T2. S/F-line says P9.
Lap 2 - Smokey comes like a rocket in T1 ;D P10.
Lap 3 - drivers meeting in T1. Came to a complete stop while people were bumping each other. Sneaked carefully around Rob. Won a pos. in Tlast from Nick. P8.
Lap 4 - chased Smokey.
Lap 5 - tried to scare Smokey and in T second last he went wide and dived under! P7.
Lap 6 - tried to run from Smokey.
Lap 7 - struggling quit a bit with a RD Sauber. In replay I see it's Doc! With a standard skin!! wth! Doc? ;D Got room as always from the gentleman, but couldn't apparently take the next corners fast enough to his likings. I am a chicken, Doc. Sorry. Got a bump and spun 180 degree. Would spin it back, thought track was clear, but just as I accelerated I see Ced and another car coming fast! Missed Ced by an inch or less, but poor Niles took the full blow from my rear. I can not apologies enough for that manoeuvre. Deeply ashamed...
Had to wait for clear track and while turning the car, spotter announced raceleaders! Brent passed relatively undisturbed, but I could hear Fab had to brake for me. Sorry guys!
Lap 8 - P11.
Lap 9 to 22 - tried to stay brave.
Lap 23 - catches up with Smokey again. P10 and don't know why. Goes in pit as planned. For some reason the mechanics are waiting with sledgehammers. Wth? but they only used them on the car.
Lap 24 - out of pit, Smokey is 0.5 sec ahead...
Lap 25 - Smokey gets very wide in T1. I come in slow and easy on the brakes, as he comes back in. Touched his rearend, he slides back, think I'm clear, but then he comes back and this time it's serious. Exhibit A.
My sincere apology, Smokey. Believe it or not, but I really try hard not to be a racewrecker. Sorry once again. P10. Sigh.
Lap 30 - met Ced who gave nice room despite being a lap ahead. Smart move, captain!
Lap 40 - met Bob. Who gave room too! nice to have a reputation!
Lap 41 - crosses the finish line with a P7. Some pos must have been won due to pitstops.

All in all an exiting race, always liked citytracks and Long Beach has always been a favorite. Thanks for putting it on the schedule, Ced. And once again sorry for the trouble I caused for you guys.

Qualified P2 and settled in behind Fab for the first couple laps then got a good run (down the front straight I believe) and was able to get inside of Fab for the lead. Thanks for the room.
Managed to gradually pull away from Fab. Didn't have much problem with traffic as everyone was very considerate. Came across a few folks having good battles and good runs....Wheeler comes to mind, as I followed for several laps without being held up, he was probly running same (or a little better) lap times as I was.
Sorry to see Dave out so early as he looked fast.

I dont know how the view was further back and I noticed some chat about a bump or two but it appears that this race shows that many of us have made progress while running in tight conditions.

Doc, I dont even remember any contact so it couldnt have been too bad.

I'm satisfied that I am slowly climbing the curve here though.

Interesting race for sure.

Qualified P4 with a 56.3. Was disappointed not to be able to put it in the 55s like I had done in practice.

Rick got me on the start (stop dozing Rob!) so I settled into P5. Top 5 were all together in first couple laps, and I thought this was gonna be a barn burner.

Then... L3... ugh. I think I got the worst of it in the T1 shamozzle. I basically had to stop completely for the accident. I had one chance to move around Nick's sideways car, but as soon as I started to move, Nick goes in reverse, so I stop again. By this time, oncoming cars tap me in the rear and I go sideways. I finally get clear, but now I'm in P13 or so, but without any significant damage.

I ran very hard for the balance of the race trying to recover positions. A couple guys gave me their positions, which was nice but I have no right to expect those courtesies when we're fighting for position. Smokey and I had a nice little fight, and I got by when he lit the tires exiting the left hander before the hairpin. Got along well enough to be scored in P2, but that was only because I pitted later than most everyone. I toyed with trying to make it without stopping, but wasn't able to save enough fuel. Pitted with something like 3 to go, and brought the car home in P6. Not bad I guess considering my T1 adventures. But that's what happens... I'll take the Top 10 and head to the next race!

P.S. Don't know if other people had your skin, Doc, but I had it so I know it's out there. I suspect, though, that people didn't have mine cuz I loaded the wrong carfile up. Like I said, stop dozing, Rob!!

First of all..................congrats to Brent for a good and clean win..............you were the fastest of the field yesterday evening

By the beginning of the race I was not fast enough to save my P1...... Brent was faster and more consistent than me, after few laps I tried to catch him with an average laptime of 55s_mid/high but on lap 16 Doc hit me while I was lapping him and lost some seconds without damage.........some laps later I had a misunderstanding with Smokey who bumped me when I was on his right side and spun, I am sorry that you lost your position....... by the half of the race after lapping Nick in last turn he braked late and hit me and lost some seconds again, he was correct to wait for me to start again after my spin.........few laps to go I had a good fight with Rob for P2 but he had to pit.........a laps later I was frightened in T1 where Rob was immobile on the track LOL I swerved on the right fiu! ;D.......so that I finished my race without any damage.

Brent deserved the win...........congrats again guy!

I would thank Jan (you didn't disturbed me, don't worry), Nick, Ced (for the server too) and Tom who gave me room as soon as they were able....very correct and intelligent

Yeah Fab, I tried to get the hell out of the way, but I think I rammed you in a no-brake zone for me.

There were several sections where I was much faster. Or more suicidal. Those places where cojones replaced brains made my laps what they were.

I'm just not that good with these cars yet. But I was impressed by my sort of affinity with the sauber at Long Beach.

I couldn't make any quick times with the Jag.

The BS with not making the grid, had that @#$& not happened who knows. It blew my whole race. In the end it cost me three laps.....it just created the whole fiasco that ended with my good freind Mr. Slee retiring, which really aggravates me.

Oh well, I didn't hit anyone on purpose, and I don't think any of my incidents were reckless or stupid. Again I have been known to be wrong, abundantly.

Don't give up, it can't get much worse. There has got to be a downhill part for the luckless few of season 1 '06.

I'm thinking it might be at Mexico, or even Rouen. Who knows.

Well couldn't put the Q lap together I wanted so I started somewhere around P11. Made my way past the meelee in T1 and was running P6 I think. Came up on a driver 3 different times and wasn't able to pass because of contact. Settled in and drove my race, started making up spots and pitted as late as I could but blew the pit in so that cost me time. Ended up P8 at the end.
