I think you meant to say "Changes to rFactor Central" in the title. The game itself isn't changing at all, the rFactor Central website will be replaced with the new owners site called Simraceway.com. I'm sure (at least I hope) another site will pop up to replace rFactor Central with all the same features available when it was up.

This is basically saying that if you post your mod here, we own it and will do with it as we see fit. Sort of like R2P on 'roids. That will get rejected by all concerned.
I do hope, however, that some other central location for posting mods comes up because it's just about impossible to hunt around and try to find mods that are scattered all over the place.

Yes I can see A LOT of people having an issue with this. That's one reason I always keep what I download. You just never know when stuff like this may happen.
I wouldn't be surprised if someone isn't working on a replacement as we speak. The immense web traffic that this site generated is what got the original owner in trouble (financially)

www.carthusiast.com/rfactor-central-to-become-simraceway-286.htmlSo from what I understand from the direct quote of Jonathan Haswell, they are going to provide the new tools and features for the modding community, sounds like whatever you make with these said tools and features will be some small print that points to them owning what you make. To make things worse it's a start up company based in Silicon Valley (smack dab where I live), I'm with the modder's on this, what compensation are they getting for their work?

I was discussing this with Pat who is a big Train Sim nut and I can see this going the same way. It will be legality issue in the end. The legal issues haven't been an issue because there has never been any money involved. Unless these guys know some loophole. It could be over before it starts...IMO

Well seeing is believing. So we will have to see if they stick to the story ;D

Reading between the lines, it's going to become an expensive place to download in pretty short order.

Not to mention the tools for modding they just released, so they now can say anything created with these tools is effectively theirs.
I don't remember what game it was or software package but I do remember something to that effect happening years ago.
