I'm hoping to make Road America but...........
I've dl'd the 2 latest car packs and all the new ones show up when I look at them on the main screen. However, when I go to the track (off line) to practice my Probe shows up as a TEMP car. When I try to go on line it looks like it loads but when I get to the PLAYER/CHAT/VIEW screen it's all blank and the game freezes. What the hell could have gone wrong since my last race. I ain't done nuthin' except put the new stuff in.
TIA

Tom,
I'll get ya a download of the SBN folders to replace the ones you have. You may have a hard drive starting to go bad. When is the last time you defragged it.

I can't imagine the hard drive is going bad.....I don't have any problems with anything else (including rF2 surprisingly enough so I'll get back to you after putting the new Ford folder in the game. Thanks!

Only two days to go before Road America. My computer crashed earlier in the week but I finally got it back. But it had a fresh install of Windows. I have spent many hours replacing all the things I had before.
Now, I have a problem that could keep me out of the race.
My wheel is only getting about ninety degrees rotation instead of my old 270 deg. When I boot my computer the wheel goes through it's gyrations to load but doesn't give me the full range. I usually go to the Windows game controller and I can change the rotation, set the force feedback etc. Now when I click on it the wheel doesn't show up . It has a different view. See attached picture.
So I can't set the rotation of any of the other things I need to change.
I noticed that when I turn my computer on and the wheel does it's thing, one of the two lights doesn't light up.
I tried running with the wheel like it is and it is very unstable and I can only turn so much. If I miss a turn a little too much I can't crank the wheel around enough to stay on the track.
I also tried to install the Logitech gaming software but I get a message saying it couldn't complete the install the DLL application.
I'm lost .......... I have no idea what to do.
Can anyone help ?

You trying to "out problem" me, Bob? Ced, new folder installed but the same problem. I can see the cars, including mine, in the spinner but when I go to the track it's a TEMP. I'm lost......and I see Bob a little further down the same path.

Just a thought Tom, have you bought the car ? And if you select anyone else's car do you have the same problem ? If not at least you can race with a generic car. How would you like to make that long run down to that sharp left at Elkhart and not be able to turn the wheel enough to make the turn ? I have cut the corner and hit the brakes not to run off the track. Tricky..... d**n computers.. I started fresh and had to install everything. Now I have annoying popups that I can't figure out how to remove. Like I said d**n computers.

If the wheel is a Logitech you will need to reinstall the ligitec profiler to get the view back to change all the wheel setting. You can download if from the Logitec website. I had the same issue until i reinstalled the logitec profiler. Hope that helps

I installed the profiler but still no go. I probably need some game port drivers. But I can't figure out how to get them. Every time I try a site they are trying to sell me something. d**n computers. I'm so p.o. ed. I'm not a techie so I am at a loss. 'The PC repair man in Mayberry is off for the week. Guess I'll have to wait it out.

Personally I never use the profiler. Open control panel and look under printers and devices for the wheel Win7. I would change usb ports and see if she shows up. I have had to do this a few times myself. This is an easy thing to do Bob.

You shouldn't need a game port driver for USB conneection.

I'm now wondering it the problem could be my five year old wheel. After all I have a brand new Windows install and all the files should be there. Do you think that if I hooked up my joystick and it worked properly that it would pinpoint my problem ? Getting a new wheel is an expensive investment. Any suggestions for my next wheel ?

The Logitech G27 is a good start.

That would be my recommendation too. I think Logitech makes another wheel that is a good bit cheaper but I cannot vouch for the quality.
I will say that I've used a G25 for 3 years now and love it. No issues so far.

Bob, Sandy might be referring to the Logitech Driving Force Pro (or DFP.) I've got one and it's fine for me. Actually, this is my second one, the first one lasted about 5 years. Now, it's no G25 or G27 but I consider it as good as the old black MOMOs. They're in the $125 range, or at least they WERE, who knows today.
