Very disappointing for me. I was in a solid second place -- albeit a lap down to Scott -- when the engine just quit on me going down the front straight with 3 or 4 laps to go. I really hate random failures like that.

well...I'm dissapointed with myself for that one. I should've backed off and just cruised through the last 4 laps, but instead I was still pushing, got a bit wide at the end of the esses, didn't get on the brakes in time hit a curb, tried to save it but went off the track into the wall, careening back across the track and rolled over a few times.
To my surprise the car was still running, and I thought I would still be able to maintain the lead...but 2 laps later, the engine just quit on me...
oh well, still managed to hold onto 5th.

Was wondering what happened to you, Scott. You really did have the field covered.
Me, got a solid start and worked tried hard the first part of the race to establish a good pace and to stick with 2nd, 3rd and 4th. We had a nice train going there for a little bit... all evenly matched.
I was able to pick up a couple positions when Sandy and Paul had problems, and eventually found myself in 2nd with about 15 or so to go.
Got my pit stop in but stoopied me sped in the pits (by 1 MPH BTW). Cleared the black flag next time around and rejoined 3rd, I believe. Paul and Scott's misfortunes put me in first.
But I nearly threw it away on the last lap with a little self spin in T5... pinched the corner too much making sure to avoid lapped traffic. Got the car turned around and found that I only had 2 seconds to Brent. Ugh. Was able to make the last half lap without incident.
Great fun guys... see ya in a couple weeks when we do it again!
Rob

Wow, I'm shocked. You looked like Superman out there. I can't imagine that you didn't win... What was your best lap?
And that means that if I hadn't blown up, I........... Jeez...
BTW, I left something very important out of my earlier note -- an apology to the driver of the Coors car that I hit. I was as far inside as I could go and I hope you weren't damaged.

my fastest race lap was a 58.275 which was the lap before I crashed. Most of the race I was running mid 58's to low 59's.

Congratulations Rob on the first win of the season and commiserations to those who fell by the wayside. I screwed up qualifying by spinning on the corner......twice! Started 13 but found myself in sixth after managing to avoid the turn 1 carnage. Was ticking along nicely and up to 4th at one point. Nudged JP going into the last turn...sorry mate...but glad to see from the replay that it was just a quick spin for yer. Had another spin into the wall at the esses. I think there were a lot of damaged cars out there today. I seemed to come across a lot of cars that were just crawling around and caused me to take to the grass. Then got caught speeding and had to come back in. A few laps later and BobEardley's car blew up down the back straight and the windscreen got coated in oil...couldn't see a thing and had to jump back in the pits... Wished the race could have gone on longer. Another great track Ced. Too bad I'll be missing Cleveland and the next couple of races. Have fun!

Congrats to Rob on the win. Tuff luck for Paul and Scott. I had a couple or three early spins and had my regular pit stop a little early so I was down quite far in the standings but managed to keep it pretty clean for the last 20 laps. Worked my way back up to 4th, then Paul goes out and I am quite surprised to be in 3rd. Got pretty close to Rob for 2nd at the time but got a little out of shape when we came up on traffic. That dropped me 12-13 sec behind him and I figured I'd just try to hang on for a podium. Then I here "leader is pitting now"...what the heck? Was still some 12 sec behind Rob and still with only a couple laps left knew I couldn't catch up then on the final lap I notice on my f2 screen the margin to Rob is dropping fast....He managed to get going before I could make a pass during the last half a lap. Guess I shoulda kept pushing...ya just never know. That track for me feels like I am always in a half spin ) tryin not to completely lose it. Was fun though.

Hey Paul, That was me that took you out . You should know me enough by now that I would have let you by. The bad part is where you caught me. Just after going through T1 I saw you coming but I don't think trying to let a car by going through the essess and into the bottom complex is a good idea. I looked to let you by at the bottom of the hill and you were close enough. I had never spun all race going on to the back straight and I altered my line to let you by and that's when I spun. Truely Sorry for that, no hard feelings I hope. Ced

Hi Andrew, Didn't realize it was your first race. I'm still matching drivers to cars as I'm a relative noobie here myself. Welcome to PORRS and glad you had a blast.

No problem Ced. The damage to my car was insignificant, and my engine caught up with me in the end anyway. Just one of those racing things.
I was a little frustrated after the race and shouldn't have said anything. I deleted that remark from my note and I'm the one that owes you an apology for running off my mouth like that in the heat of the moment.

Paul, I didn't take your comment as running off at the mouth and it's always good to hear someones point of view as long as it's done constructively. From your point of view I was probably holding you up and that is a valid point. It will also make me more aware of places to let other drivers by if I'm in that position again. So that works for me. You hear my point and I learn from yours. That how it should work. It's all about working together. That's my goal. Ced
