Hi Everyone.
Just wanted to post a list of things everyone needs to get ready for Bullrun next Saturday. A couple of these things have found their way into other forum threads, but I wanted to consolidate everything I think we need into one thread.
1. We all need the rFactor v.1152 exe files. An email from the yahoo group was sent out about a week ago with a direct link to these files. If you do not have the 1152 exe, you won't be able to get on the race server. I have the files if anyone needs them.
2. We all need the most recent instructions on driver swaps. They're not going to do hot swaps as originally planned, but will be doing pit swaps. A pdf tutorial was issued in this regard. Again, I have it if anyone needs it. I'll be digesting its contents tonight.
3. We all need the carfiles. An email from the yahoo group was sent this morning with direct links to a high-res and low-res carset. Unlike NASCAR 2003, you must have each and every car being used for the race for rFactor to run properly. I can upload the high-res carset to the PORRS WORX file area at the PORRS site if necessary.
4. Driver confirmations and schedule. We need to confirm who's available and develop a schedule for each team. I suspect pit stops are going to be driven by tire wear moreso than fuel consumption. My most recent tire test resulted in lap times 6 seconds slower at the 30th lap of a run versus the first 5 laps. We may be pitting every 20 laps for tires in this race.
Anyone, please post additional info here regarding stuff we all need. This is what I came up with this morning.

It seems that after driver swaps, and even pitting without a swap, the game is set to put only 18 gallons of fuel in. I would advice us all to plan the race accordingly on 18 gallon runs.

Bob I think it puts only 18 gallons the first time you get into the car, you need to add the extra fuel you want. On your first pit stop after the drivers swap the fuel settings should be what you have set in your setup. DaveS

PORRS V8F Bull Run Practice Plan
Team PORRS_A use in-game Ford Performance Jason Bright #6 Team PORRS_B use in-game Ford Performance Mark Winterbottom #5
Have a Bullrun_Speedway setup saved and assigned to your name. Copy/paste that setup from your rfactor/user data/your name/settings/bullrun speedway to rfactor/gamedata/vehicles/V8F vehicle folder.
Everyone assign passenger select to the "E" key, driver hotswap to the "W" key.
Connect to Dave's Team Speak server. The Team specific channels are only for communicating with the drivers and not for general chat.
The starting driver connects to the BR server with multiplayer setting having spectate OFF, joining drivers have spectate ON.
The starting driver races until a predetermined time.
The driver who will be taking over joins the server (with multiplayer setting having spectate on) and clicks on the current drivers name, then presses "E", this will then show a message to the current driver that the new driver has joined them. The current driver looks in his HUD display and finds the taking-over drivers name and sticks on it. Then the current driver calls for a pit stop. As the current driver stops in his pit box he presses the "W" key and WAITS UNTIL THE DRIVER TAKING OVER LEAVES THE PITS! If something goes wrong with the driver swap and the current driver does not do this the team is finished! The driver who has taken over MAY NOT HAVE THE PIT SPEED LIMITER ON, BEWARE! The driver who has taken over will probably have less fuel on board than is set in his assigned setup so check it and if necessary adjust it for the next pit stop.
If all goes well the driver who has handed the car off can now press "W" and exit the game.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

Hey Dave, you and I have this stuff pretty well figured out, the others gotta get themselves setup for this, as you and I both know it takes a bit of time to do. Practicing off-line is fine but people's Team Speak and in-game settings need to be tweaked so they can hear both the car and the chat, knowing how to do the swaps has to become second nature..."stuff" that I won't feel like messing with while I am in the real race and on the track. I have posted when I am available and I really should not be up this late, but hey, I'm making time.

Jeff didn't have enough lines in that movie....lol.
Nice write up bob but one thing has me a little perplexed and since you have done more testing on this than I, i'll go with your findings.
From the script it appeared that once you selected the driver riding with you, once you got to the pits the change was automatic. So you are saying you "do" need to hit the "W" for the swap to happen.
Just checking.

I spent 2 hours on the server running slow 1:45's working on lowering that. I didn't see anyone I recognized. When I turn on spectator I can't get a car to show. Also when entering the BR server in the PORRS car I get kicked. I NEED to practice some driver swaps. I saw Bob's schedule and I will try and be there.

Harrison, Your getting kicked off the BR server when your in the PORRS car because the BR car set isn't on the server yet, you need to select one of the default cars in the game and then go online. When you go online as a spectoator you won't see any cars online unless there are other drivers on the server. You can get into any car by selecting a driver and then press whatever key you have assigned as the passenger key, then press the race button and you should be inside the car with the driver. Hope this helps ;D DaveS

Please pick the default cars I have posted to practice with. I am going to be on and off the TS server from now until after midnight eastern time, if you see my name on the TS server give a shout out, I may be on the track, I also may have my status as "away" but I will be checking TS so hang about if it says that please. I have messed with Rob's setup so much it now sucks so I will be working on a new setup and if you are around tonight Harrison we can both go on the BR server as non-spectators and I can send you setups. Please review all the posts about the BR both here and from the BR Yahoo mailings so you will be pretty much up to speed, thanks guys. Bob
