PORRS NEWS - June 26th 2005

WOSEC Sebring

Well it's been a busy week for the Ced. Getting everything together for PORRS first race in the WOSEC which I would say was very successfull until 7.5 hours into the race when Charlie Bonsall got punted so hard he broke the concrete barrier at the end of the straight. Needless to say that end the day for PORRS1. I think everyone that got a chance to drive had a blast and is looking forward to the next one.

I know there are times when you look at the fast guys and wonder how can they be turning those laps without cutting the track somehow, well lets just say, as reporting by the statistician JB. PORRS1 at the time of exit had the highest on track rating in 7.5 hours. Ok, so we're honest and consistent.

Season Finale

My gift to you. The info for the season finale on July 10th has been posted. All except for the track. The password and info will be sent out via email tonight for all that have been in more than one event. If you wish to run the finale and have only participated in one event you must email me for the track. [e-mail].

I hope you guys like it after about 40 hours of editing. It represents what this track should be....lol. It has fast, technical and slooooowww sections along with the rest. I will include a replay going around the track so you believe that some of the turns are makeable (hint). I will tell you, you think you can do turn 6 faster than you can but you can't. Take it slow and you'll be fine....lol. The only thing I have left to finish which I will email later is the pace car lp file. I wanted to get it out so you can practice it.

I apologize for not having the website updated. Getting ready for the WOSEC event and editing the track took all my time (plus some of my work time I snook in on) ;D

I will up date the points by tonight hopefully.

well, I was led to believe I wouldn't be able to make the Sebring race by my dad, but later found out that I probably could have driven for it...Oh well, I got to watch some action unfold...including the punt that took our team out of the race.

This is how I saw it (with more frames of course):



the laptimes of the other teams weren't too fast, I was able to run some pretty consistant 46's in the Sauber for an MNRL race one time.....although that VROC Mazda...I don't know where they're finding the speed with that car.

It was pretty interesting, I knew 2 people driving for 2 different Mazda teams. I couldn't stop laughing when one of them came in to the #VROC chat room and starts saying "I'm up next to drive, and I've just been informed that the car has lost 2nd, 4th, and 5th gears" Though, that team managed to actually finish the race with only 3rd gear left, which is rather amazing.

Looking forward to the final PORRS league race...I need to get some practice time in at this track, I've driven it once, but those off camber turns are surprisingly difficult to negotiate. I have yet to get through there without hitting the wall.

Just ran some laps at "X" track , messing with the gears and got into the low 1:29's, is that in the ballpark ? This track reminds me that what "they" say is true, once you learn it you never forget...bycicling that is. ;D

You're in the 29's allready...lol. 32 was the lowest in practice on sunday but that was with the old INI. I assume that with the new one being more forgiving in the downhill loop you can attack it faster.

Should be interesting.

uh, I just tried the new ini I think I might be a "tad" slower than that now

you change ini again, since last weeks version? if not i`m in the 37`s. and to think i thought i might be doing good. but with folks in the 29`s i guess i have to get after my engineers .

looks like i might not make this race, hurricane due to arrive around that time. hopefully it goes other places. i went thru 4 out of 5 hurricanes last season. Dont want to do that again.

yes , just got rain squalls. nothing got damaged. thankfully this time.
