Well, my day was pretty good, I managed to place 7th on the grid which was surprising with the 1.24's I made until the last lap I pulled a 1.23.6 just to make 7th concrete.
The race itself was probably the most consistent race I had run all season to date, the light went green and I managed to get the Audi up to 5th and was trying to keep up with Forddude but his car was on another level for the early part of the race and he was gone by lap 10, and the two Mazda's I passed on the initial green soon caught up and followed suit.
It was getting close to my stop on lap 23 I believe and I was currently in 6th, I managed to keep the position after a 33 second stop (normally I have damage by the time it's my stop) and was out the pits again and charging as hard as I could push my car managing low 24's to mid 23's, I was able to catch Fordude and pass him for 4th (he must have had a mechanical problem or his tires were getting old) and then two laps later (and on the third from last lap) on the exit of the first esses to the short straight, the car let go on the one part of the track that had never given me a problem...I don't know what happened but the car refused to turn away from the wall and promptly wiped my front fairing off, I should have kept going as I may have been able to keep 5th but I thought I should play it safe and just get the bodywork replaced.
Overall I'm happy with my race and getting 6th...could have been 4th but, this time the car let me down (instead of myself losing focus or getting pressured into a mistake) with what looks like a tire blowout or puncture on the rear right wheel (odd since the rear left was doing all the work and getting hotter) as it was the only tire replaced at the repair pit stop when I asked for none to be changed. Maybe I should used the hard compound instead of medium's?
Anyway it was a good race especially when I was having a blast chasing Forddude (seem to be racing each other for position a lot lately...maybe I'm getting better at setting my car up).
