Hi Guys, If anyone has the GPL 69 mod and wants to run a few short races at Watkins Glen, jump on in at 7:00 Pm Sunday Jan 8th. We'll run 30 minute practice (I may start the server early) and a short race and be done by 7:55 so we can get ready for the CARS race. IP:71.138.74.153 Note IP changeNo Password 30 min practice If you don't have any GPL and want to try it. These are the steps to get it to work. This will be removed after today. 1) Get the GPL2004 Demo from BlackHole Motorsports. www.bhmotorsports.com2) Install to C:\Sierra\GPL (You must do this for GEM to work) 3) Get the GPL 69 mod and the GEM software at 1969gpl.speedgeezers.com4) Install the GPL69 mod 5) Install GEM Start GPL from the desktop icon Create a new user and pick a team. Close GPL Fire up GEM, it should find your install. All you should need to do is pick the language. Once Gem has started, it should show your drivers name. Go to the Carset window and select the GPL69 (1969 Grand Prix) series cars and make it active. Click Ok. In the Carsets Windows select 1969 Grand Prix. Go to the box under your name and select the car you want. Note: You may need to go to the window below the picture on the left and select your car in the second box. 69HWNG for example. Click on the Green GPL box at the bottom Use the arrows in the middle of the screen to navigate through Testng, Single Race, Championship and Multiplayer. Put the IP address in the box next to IP and select the Green box at the right bottom. You should connect. It uses the same 32766 + 23 ports as base Nascar so you should be set with your firewall. You may need to open 6970 but I doubt it. See y if you can make it. Ced

I just re-installed GPL and got the 69 mod working...on D drive, no room on C, will that FER SURE be a problem to con to your server? Anyone have a link to that program that allows you to see what gear you are in as well as seeing who is in front/behind and by how much time? Thanks, hope to make this Sunday!
Bob
EDIT:1:06:6XX laps at the Glen with my rear trying to pass my nose, cool.

Hi Bob,
If you got GEM to work with it installed on D then you are fine. It just seemed that on some of my test installs it was being troublesome if it wasn't in the c:\sierra\gpl folder.
Being on D wont have any issue connecting to the server.
See ya then.

I installed the 69 the other day before I saw your thread here. I also downloaded the new GEM+2.3.52 issue at the same time.
I have the 69 running but the cars are as squirly as the original 67's maybe even more so it seems.
Since then I came here and saw the sequence of install using the 2004DEMO. I DL the Demo this morning and the DEMO icon came on the desktop. Clicked on it and man what a sight. Fantastic quality, visually and sound.
Driving these beasts was a pleasure compared to the 67 or the new 69.
Now a question. How are these mods to compare with one another in regards to driving ability? That is physics or ground force etc. The 69's on my puter have absolutly no ground force (same as 67's) but the 2004 demos sure do. Is this correct from what everyone else has experienced?
Hope I have made myself clear and understandable.
If the 69's are to be without the ground force of the 2004 demo's and remain the same as the 67 were then my driving is over for this mod. Those 69's are terrible to drive. If all this is true then why have the wings etc..
These questions are probalbly for the GPL forum and I will head over there for a similar discussion.
Would still like to hear from you so that I can make the race Sunday but need to get the 69's drivable for me.
Maybe I need help with setups. I don't know.
Thanks,
Larry

Thanks for that link Ced, I tried that but what I was looking for, and found, was Pribluda. I installed that but I can't figure out how to get the gear indicator to work, anyone help me with that? Also Ced, could you maybe set up your server so we can see if we can connect to it before hand? Larry, I had to try a few times before I got it all to work, I think maybe you have to race using GEM at least once for it to make some changes but one thing I know for sure is if you don't see 2 boxes in the lower left showing wing settings you are not running 69 physics.

Bob,
Can you send me a link to that. I'd like to play around with it. I'll have the server up 1 hour before we start. That should give you time to connect. No one had a problem on Monday that showed.
Larry,
Like Bob said, I think you are 95% there. You have to run GEM at least once with the correct settings. GEM will then create a file called GPL69W.exe. That's what should have the physics changes in it. Start GPL first from the desktop icon and create your driver name if you haven't already. Then shut down GPL. Start GEM and in the carset area, select the 69 GrandPrix Carset and make it active and click ok. Now you should have that box Bob was referring to. Pick the car you want and start GPL from the Green box in the lower right. After you have finished GPL say yes to save your changes.
There is a whole right up on what they were able to accomplish with the ground effects and the GPL code so you should notice the difference if you have it set right.
But I will say if you have never driven GPL, these will still be a handfull.

Well I will keep looking into this. As for driving the GPL's, I competed in the Rally2 which was a blast and finished right in the middle of the field. Our team consisted of Jon Ferraez, Dave Slee, two I can remember plus a couple of first name only's. Team was the grasshoppers and we finished third overall.
My rank was never that good, something like +44 or 42 not sure. Enjoyed GPL for probably 4 years but that goes to show how mediocre I was. Nevertheless I trully enjoyed that SIM.
I hope I can get those 69 beauties working and the Demo's are just fantastic looking. The folks that work on those programs are the cream of the crop.
Now on to figure out where I am going wrong, and thanks for the input, Bob and Ced.

Well, I have the 69 mod installed and the IGOR window shows the 69HWxx. I have the 2 wing window akso. Looks like I have it all installed.
The kicker(s):
1. I have only a 4 speed gear box Best lap time of 1:21.x, top rpm around 8M or something. Sucks!!!!
expected to at least beat my old 67 pb 1:06.67 at the Glen.
2. Multiplayer window comes up with Modem Phone number not the IP address. Sucks!!!!
Looks like I am just out of it. Stick with the GTP's and AD67, am pissed. Been at this for hours and discusted, so _ _ _ K it.

Hi,
Well, I have to appologize for my poor attitude last night.
After sleeping on this project I finally have it up and running with all functions. It required some core.ini and other alterations. Can't honestly remember everything I went through.
Ran the Matra for 10 laps. The first 4 with wings at 20 and the next 6 with wings at 5. Pretty shakey since not running GPL for quite some time but got a lap of 1:03.79 and quit for now.
Wanted to get back and again, appologize.
Still not sure why IGOR would only see 4 gears but after playing around comparing old core's and app. and Gem files I have it, ------------- for now.
Now need some help with setups. Anybody have some input on where to obtain assistance for these 69's? Maybe the GPL forum, what u say.
You know another strange thing was that IGOR would only let me connect via a Modem Phone dial up. After tinkering I now have the proper IP connection capability. Would like to see if it works before Sunday if possible. Any comments on this?
Thanks,
Larry

OK... it's the next dummy's turn... j/k Larry!! OK... I have GPL Demo, GPL69, and GEM installed and "perhaps" working. I have a player created in GPL, and the player name comes up in GEM. However, I apparently can only select the 69 carset. There does not appear to be any 69 season to select per the instructions above. Any suggestions... GPL is completely new to me, so please bear that in mind. Rob

Rob,
I will PM you through the MNRL site, look for it with some information I hope will help. We can keep in touch from there.
I don't know where we can do that here in the PORRS forum.
