Estoril Post Race Report

Totally blew my qualifying lap, went way to deep into T1 and had to drive back onto the track so I wound up in P7 for the start of the race. I hit the inside curb to hard and managed to roll my car in the last turn, luckly it rolled completely over so I was still able to get back into the race but I was in P12 after the first lap of the race. I just tried to run a consistant race but of course I've never managed to do that in my life so I made a few... let's say "Brain Farts" during the race and some how managed to finish in P5

Congrats to FTelasio, Brent Curtis, and Jan Kyster for Podium finishes

I blew my qualy also. Could not turn the car in the first hairpin and lost a chance for a decent time.

Had some contacts in the race both FROM and BY, sorry for the BY's. In the last half I was making, for me, some very nice laps and creeping up on Bob, 6th, but settled for a seventh and that was OK. Was actually running in the 28's at the end. Quite happy. Bring on Estoril again, lol

We have some very fine drivers here at PORRS and they deserve a round of applause, here here for the gang atop the podium.

Well, Well.

I must applaude everyone for a fine race and getting over the first race gitters. There were some weird incidents as would be expected in the first race but everything went well.

I must apologize as admin and driver for my lack lustered performance. Sometimes you just have crappy days and today was it. Here and the other league I run in.

But you guys did great and by me, that's all that matters. Fabrizio is the man to beat now so lets see how he does at Bahrain. ;D

I qualified P6 so I was ready to just settle into a good race pace. Managed to work my way up to P3 after awhile and really wasn't gaining ground on Rob but he had a problem at the corner on the backstretch so I moved to P2 and watched Jan and Rob go at it for P3. After the pitstops I remained P2 and Rob & Jan weren't far behind for many laps...probably some tight racing back there and I opened up a bit of a gap with just a few laps to go and was able to hold on for P2.
Thanks for the room to all, these types of tracks are tough to pass on no doubt about it.

Had nothin for Fabrizio though but I am really lovin this type of track, muscling the sauber around is lots of fun and *I think* there is more of this to come ;-)

My connection tossed me out on the first lap, when I got re-connected I sped out of the pits by accident and got a B/F, I couldn't clear it for some reason, the only thing I can think of is that the pit lane speed limit starts earlier than the pit wall. Anyway, I look forward to the next one.

Who was it that was talking about brain tootage? I had a couple of my own.

I came in thinking I would be competitive, having run mid 28s in off-line practice. Was startled to see Fabrizio running constant laps in the 27s with a 26 or two thrown in. WOW.

Qualified P2, and was happy with that.

Start was fine and I tried to get into my rhythm. Wasn't able to keep up with Fab, but was able to inch away from P3 and back... that is, until my first tootage. I got into T4 too hard and looped it, losing P2 to Brent. Got going again and reeled Brent in, and was able to get by when he had a little slip in the final corner.

Ran P2 for a while till I misjudged a backmarker and around I go again. Lost P2 and P3 this time... so, back to work on Jan in P3. Closed up again... I think I made it past before the pit stop, and maintained P3 after the pit... so, back to trying to run down Brent again. Got excited in T4 again and self-looped for the second time, surrendering P3 to Jan again. Jan and I ran together very close for the last 5 laps. I was a tick quicker, but couldn't find a way by.

Jan, very nice running with you those last couple laps. Very FUN! And I saw you ran your three quick laps during the final three laps at the end. Way to go!! And congrats to Fab and Brent as well... I think we're gonna have some battles this season guys!!

Punted a car lining up to start...
Reversed on track...
Had contact twice...

What a great way to start in a new league, sigh. But here's how it went:

Qualified as P5 and as we entered Parabolica Ayrton Senna there was a gap up to Rick Wheeler. Speeded to close it and as he slowed down, I punted him! Could not believe it! Sent him off-track but not spinning and he reentered... Hope I didn't caused any damage on your car, Rick, but please accept my apology! It will never happen again. I swear!

Lap 3: Kevin Jay makes a full 180 degree roll sideways in Curva VIP! Had to slow and Brent Curtis passes...
Lap 7: Doc Savage had a spin in the same corner and so did I as I tried to avoid contact. Ended up facing the wall and had to put the car in reverse back on track (sic! ) There was clear track behind me, but just as the car is free again, I can hear the others roaring towards the corner...
Lap 13: meets Doc again same place. This time he's facing front to me! Pulls over to the right of the track, when he rolls forward and I can't - really! - not avoid ramming into his side. Not very hard, but just enough to clear the track. Sorry Doc! I tried!
Lap 15: passing a Rob Thaeler making donuts?
Lap 18: almost driving off in T1 when I see I'm P2... but replay say Curtis just took his pitstop. Thaeler is less than a second behind... tires feeling a bit soft by now...
Lap 20: let Thaeler pass as we went into Parabolica Interior. My nerves couldn't take it anymore, I must confess. Tires really sliding now...
Lap 22: Thaeler slide in Interior and I had to drive over the curb and onto the grass to avoid contact. Tires are worthless and made the pitstop. Thaeler apparently reached the same conclusion...
Lap 27: passed Thaeler standing in the gravel in T3. He's quickly back on track and chased me mercilessly all the way to the finish line. But no more "Mr. Nice Guy" here! Managed to keep him behind with less than a second between us. Cool stuff and saw me setting my fastest lap. Ever. Thank you

It was a fun race too bad I didn't do better. I had a friction rollover early in the race and continued to fall back due to many self induced off's.
There's too many fast drivers here to get away with mistakes like that. Congrats to the winners and apologies to anyone who I may have disrupted.

Yes, I will do that anyway, but then I should make some more general shots from the race.
sfgpl.dk was intended to show the adventures of drivers in Scuderia Ferrari GPL F1 Division so it will naturally be a bit (too much) "me, me, me", meaning that every picture most likely will include the team's Silk Cut Jaguar...
So, I will make a few changes on my GTP site unless you would prefer to have them on P.O.R.R.S. site? How do you like the picture size? Quality of pics? Will welcome any comments and suggestions!
