Hi Guys,
The format for this Sunday's GPL race at Rouen will be 45 minute practice with the server open at 5:45 PM est. We will run as many 9 lappers as we can get in before 7:00.
The format talked about for the League will be different and there has been some good chat going on.
An anouncement will be made soon so stay tuned. If you know anyone else that wants to run let them know.
GPL's limit for PORRS will be 19 so the guys that ran at Watkins get first shot.
There is a way to set cars an I'm working on "remembering" it...lol. I need everyone that wants to run to pick a number. If you set this in the preferred number section of the player file, it should put you in that car number.
That's it for now and see ya Sunday. The DM should arrive shortly.

Ced,
It seems that I remember that the cars have to use the numbers that are in the came that is 1 through 20 with the number 4 being the only offline no. avaiable.
Now I have renumbered the MUR4 (Matra) to show as my number 01 so when I am off line my car will be 01.
Not sure how the online numbering goes and when we ran last at WG the number 16 Matra was my car. How that number was chosen I do not know. It would have to be random or picked by the server, or I was the number 16 entry, and being I was in a Matra I got the number 16 car. Just my thoughts.
Now if we want a specific car number, say 01 in my case, and I renumber say MUR10 car to be 01 and submit that number (MUR10.mip) to you or the PORRS car upload section for GPL then I might expect to have that car in the online races.
Just thinking outloud here you understand. I never got this far with GPL online stuff. They just put a ring in my nose and lead me around on a leash. Drove like on a leash also flopping around from side to side, on my back at times through sand pits and into fences and guard rails, you name it. You will see more of that at Rouen am sure. Haven't had 2 clean laps in a row in practice yet.
Count me in by the way.

I'm confused, I really can't remember how to pick a number so you tell me what number Matra you want me in, lol. My "usual" number is #000, is that a good one? Ced, you mentioned to me you might have some info on how to paint a GPL car and get it in the game so if I was to manage to do that can #000 work? Bob

Larry,
You are correct in a way about the numbering. The default numbering is 1 - 20 so I would need those guys that want to try this to pick a number from 1 - 20. If I can get at least 5 guys to try it I can see if this will work and then the painting will be worth while and work.
Bob,
Yes, they can be painted but getting the car and the paint to match the number you use is the trick. If the preferred online number request works then we may be ok.

Really looking forward to trying Rouen. I've been practicing a bit on the track ostensively to start learning how to set up GPL cars. Please keep us up to date on how to reserve numbers. I don't have a strong preference right now cuz numbers above 20 don't seem to be available. But, I might like #5 in honor of Mario and Nigel! He he he... BTW... I'll be running the McClaren. Question... Is a 1:58.0 any good? Cyall Sunday PM!

Ced,
My choice of car at this time is the Matra or Murasama as it is in the original GPL. My choice of car number would be 12 if possible.
When the time comes we get serious about this and provide an car upload site we can start to provide our personal cars and numbers at that time.
I will be glad to assist in providing individuals, unique car painting and numbering if they so desire it. We should be aware of the fact that cars of that era were not painted in the wild schemes of today but generally solid and or dual color schemes, and didn't have an abundane of sponser labels plastered all over them. least wise I wasn't aware of it with the F1 series cars. This sponser identification was evident with the Indianapolis cars though I seem to recall.
Thanks,
Larry

Sorry Rob, about the 1:58.0 time.
Anything below 2: is good for me and better if they are consistant for the whole trip. Therein lies my trouble. I have had a few below the 2: mark only to be disapointed by an off and laps far in excess ot 2.
Please don't take much of what I say about times with this GPL stuff to heart however. In the world of the original GPL series I rank 3329 out of 5657 in the age group of 30 to 70, but I might say for the age group of 68 to 70, I rank 6th out of 14.
Now I feel better.

Ok for the test I have.
Bob - #1 Rob - #5 Ced - #18 Larry - #12
What you need to do is find the line in your player file that says "Preferred Number" put your number in that spot. This is "supposed" to allocate that number when you run online.
If any knows of another way short of hex editing the cars let me know.
Anyone else can pick an available number and post it here.

Only thing I can find that has that kind of info is my "pla69w.ini" that has this...
[ Personal Information ] carNumber = 1 ; Carset (gpl69f1) driverNationality = 5 ; nationality of the driver driverRating = 3 ; driver rating drivingView = 1 ; driving view firstName = Bob ; first name of the player helmetColor = 15 ; helmet color lastName = Eardley ; last name of the player lastTrackSelection = rouen ; last track visited team = 6 ; team
...and I changed the number from 4 to 1, is that the correct way to do it?
I looked at the GPL69 page yesterday, looking good!

Bob,
You mentioned, quote: "I looked at the GPL69 page yesterday, looking good!"
Can you explain where this GPL69 page is please?
What you show is exactly as I see it, with my personal exceptions of course, and is what I believe Ced means.

Main page, approx. 1/2 way down is a link...
GPL Madness is here at PORRS Hang on to your Butt. If you ever ran the original GPL online in VROC you know that phrase Looks like the Butt is back at PORRS....See what's coming
...also thanks for your confirmation on the player file. You mentioned that you could paint cars, any chance of you doing me up a medium purple Matra with yellow number plates and wings, with #000 on it?
Bob
EDIT: my car reverted back to #4 again, off line. On the painting request, purple colour: red-128, green-0, blue-128. Yellow colour: red-255, green-255, blue-0.
Basically just change the in-game car's blue stuff to purple and the white stuff to yellow. I would really like that and would be very grateful if you could do that! ;D

Bob,
You got mail.
The colors might not be as per your numbers and the quality as fine as the original car schemes either. It seems that some definition in shadows are lost to a degree.
You understand this car is unique to your offline car only, for now.

Bob, you are right for the line to edit. I was referring to the comment section next to it so if the comments are gone you wouldn't find it.
Thanks for posting that.
This number selection works only online. To get it to work offline you need to edit your actuall car. If this number selection doesn't work, I will try that next.
I remember leagues having a bear of a problem trying to get this to work.
