Milano Post Race

The Sauber let me down again. Both races I've run in that car this season I've blown an engine. Disappointing considering all of the connection problems I'm having. I have been lucky to even get in. The whole thing is pissing me off to be honest. See you next race. ;D

Harrison, how much tape are you running on the Sauber? They can't take more than 50% in race conditions, it's been my experience. Some guys run 75% or even 100% in quals, but that setting doesn't last past a couple laps.

Fun race overall. Started P5 and Bob got me off the start to put me back in P6. The early draft was crazy... I think I hit 230 one time! Move up to P4 late in the first lap when Bob and another car got together.

Drafted up to Dave, and he and I ran together for a number of laps. We were working well together and picking up time on Kevin and Fab, who were trading the lead. Dave spun about L8, which cost me my drafting partner. So, I lost a couple tenths a lap to Fab and Kevin. Inherited P2 when Kevin spun out of Lesmos 1.

At the first pit, I was about 10 seconds off Fab, and I decided to go gas only as tire wear was no problem. Got out of the pits about 4 seconds off Fab, but my only mistake of the night occured when trying to get onto the banking... I slapped the wall and took just a bit off the aero. Ugh.

Was running good times but still lost a couple tenths a lap to Fab. I went a couple laps longer than Fab to the second pitstop, which again I only took fuel. Came out about 6 seconds off, and lost a couple more over the last few laps.

Glad to be on the podium though... congrats Fab on a great run and, I think, the points lead.

Well I wasn't as bold as most of you so I didn't have my car trimmed out to be a complete beast. That where I was losing time but I could keep up with everyone every where else so I was comfy.

Had a good beginning of the race and was running 8th until I had my first of 2 offs and dropped to 10th. Had a good battle with Leadsled toward the end of the race and we both had to pit with one to go and blew the pit stop so there went that...lol.

All in all The Team LSR / Full Metal Squirell Racing Sauber had a good day.

The first half of the race was fun

On starting from pole, I tried immediately to go away from the field but Kevin followed me so that we cooperated to run away from Dave and Rob behind us.................we drafted for about 10 laps when he spun and I remained alone in first about 10 secs ahead Rob.............I ran the rest of the race alone while checked Rob in F2.

I am sorry for Kevin........he was fast and correct and contributed to my win

Yeah, it was a good race regardless..

The race started off well for me. Fab and I drafted and swapped the lead a couple of times during the first half of the race. My car ran well in the draft and Fab and I were able to pull away from the field. About 2 laps before my pit window I clipped the inside curb and spun the car ( I don't remember which turn). I pitted early and came out in 6th place. After everyone pitted, I found myself in 3rd and was able to get a podium despite having to stop for a splash of fuel.

A very happy 5th place for the Sauber/Ford at Milano. Qualifying went better than expected and I landed the 4th starting spot. Not one to kid himself I knew that wouldn't last long...and it didn't. A couple of offs by guys in front of me kept me in pretty good position although no match for the real fast guys. Dave (I think) had an incident which let me get past him and my plan was to help him (and me) catch up a bit when he got back to me. "The best laid plans....."I couldn't even hold on to his draft when he went by. :-) Sorry Dave, I had good intentions. One little late race incident when I got into the railing trying to avoid a spin in front of me was almost the end but I got lucky and didn't do much damage. All in all a pretty good finish for someone who is not real good in these cars. I thought it was kinda cool that we had to make a second pit stop for fuel very late. That could have brought some different strategy into play if someone wanted to conserve and try to make it on 1 stop. Don't guess anyone tried it though.

Preparing for this track was a challenge. For me, trying to race with the AI cars was impossible. It didn't take long to find brake, downshift and turn in points while running alone but I had some concerns about when and where when the extra speed of being with other cars was concerned. A brainstorm (brain-farts are more common) hit me. I'd start a race weekend and just pick a car out on the track in practice to run with. That was a big help in learning where to get out of it.....now if I could just pick up more speed.

All in all a fun race, as always. Congratulations to Fab on winning and to Rob and Kevin for podium finishes. Special mention to Dave for a great charge back to the front after his incident.....wish I could have helped. :-)

I'll probably miss the next race (hate that) because we'll be out of town next week and won't get back until the 28th. If I get in enough practice this week I might give it a try but I don't know if that's going to happen.

got a good qualifying lap in to start P2...but the good news ended there. About lap4 I spun and that was just the start of it. I decided to stay out and not pit to fix the damage...mistake. Ended up spinning probly 4 more times during the race trying to play catch up.
One of my worst races in a long time....live and learn I guess. Nice track though.

I practiced my Qualifying lap about half a dozen times with 100% tape to make sure I could finish the warm up and qualifying lap and I completed them both all 6 times. Of course when it's time to qualify for the race my motor blows up on my 3/4's of the way through my qualifying lap, so that put me in P11 I think.

I managed to work my way up to P5 by lap two and was working my way up through the field when I went to wide into one of the right handers and got out into the outside grass causing me to spin into the gaurd rail. This caused enough damage to slow my top speed down by about 5mph. Fixed the damage when I pitted for fuel but it still didn't get give me any better top end.

I forgot to save my replay but in the only other incident I can remember I was to impatient passing burmcat (I believe)and spun us both. I'm screw up totaly and it was all my fault. I really am sorry for any damage I caused to your car.

Pitted the second time a bit sooner than eveyone one else to try to make up some time on Kevin who was about 15 seconds ahead of my in 3rd. After the pit stops cycled through I was only about 4.5 seconds behind Kevin with 4 laps to go, I tried my best to catch him but couldn't quite make it. So I finished in 4th just out off the podium, but at least I was able to finish this race.

I got caught speeding out of the pits on my last pit stop and was given a drive through penalty. On my next lap I served my penalty but was then given a second black flag. I ignored it as it was an obvious error plus it was the last lap, so the game probably dropped my last lap.

Now my race: Qualifying went all wrong, I ended up doing a tank slapper in parabolica which sent me into the guard rail totally my car, so no lap time for me. In the race I started last on the grid and hung back a bit the first lap to see what would happen. I got a great view of P Collins wreck after the first turn. ;D On lap two going into lesmo I accidentally punted burmcat sending him (and myself) onto the grass with burmcat taking heavy damage from the look of it. I am sorry burmcat for the damage I caused. I'm still not sure if I missed my breaking point or if you break earlier then me but its no excuse I probably should have backed off a bit going into that turn.

After that my racing was boring for the next twenty laps. I don't understand why everyone thinks this track is so great, I mean their are only two corners you need to break for with these cars and their are no slow corners at all. So, finally my last pit stop which was a complete blunder on my part. I came into the pits in 5th. I was going to take just a splash and no tires but I couldn't figure out where it was on the screen to tell them no tires. So they ended up changing tires and I lost one place and a second one due to my speeding to get out ahead of smokey tyres.

So, three big mistakes in my race, and maybe a 4th one considering I stuck with the Jag instead of switching to a Sauber like everyone else did.

Loren, when you are in F5 window have to press space-bar three times so that all four flags are disappeared, it means your mechanincs will not change tyres...........now close F5 window or switch through another window to confirm your request to your spotter who will confirm your choice
