Looks like it will only be me , Tom Nasella and Brenda Hamilton representing PORRS at the 24 hrs of Daytona. Yesterday proved interesting. Not as many cars as in the past. Eonomy I guess. Brumos only has one car, car 59, however seems like they have another car set up for another team. The SunBank car won the pole with Max"the axe" Angellini piloting it. Still, the Ganassi cars are the favorites. They qualified near the front. The prerace favorite, Gainsco car was a no show for qualifying because Jimmie Johnson pulled an "oldnslo" and totaled the car in the infield "kink". They will be qualifying today. The weather is nice today but tomorrow it is supposed to rain for the start of the race. Unless I can find a good rain suiit I'll probably spend most of saturday in the car somewhere on the infield. Sunday is supposed to be bright and sunny if a little chilly. Should be lots of good racing to see Sunday. Wish we had more of the gang here. We are all going out to eat at a great seaford restaurant tonight. Sure wish you could have been here. Seeing these DPs run makes me want to run them again in PORRS. Ganassi's cars have switched from Lexus to BMW power and Gainsco and some others have switched from Pontiac to Chevy. And of course Ford is really a popular power plant. And seeing what Max did I'd say that is a good pick.

Wish I could be there but it's nice to have Brenda et al covering for me. Today, they discovered a vendor at the track who sells diecast cars and they had *everything* that was on my wishlist -- a Lowenbrau 962, the Ford GT that won in 1965, the test version of the Ford GT Mk 1 and a Lizardmobile beside. I was talking to Brenda on the phone and told her to get out of there before I thought of something else to buy. Should be a great race tomorrow -- even more for the GTs than the DPs, but both fields are wide open. Go Brumos, Go TRG/Lizards! Coverage from 3 to 10 pm and Sunday 7 am to the finish on Speed. Be there or be square.

Hey Paul,
If it isn't too much trouble for Brenda, can she get a card from the vendor with the LB 962. I still have a big poster of that car at Miami ;D

It's peoplekars.com. The guy told her that if you want any car, just to let him know and he'll see if he can get it.

Bob and Tom didn't make it to the track yesterday but Brenda was wearing what she called a "rubber-duck-yellow" poncho which should stand out clearly. She didn't stay too long but she was sitting where the cameras should have seen her and when she gets back tomorrow, we're going to look at the recording of the race I've got and if she's visible, I'll get a screen grab and post it.

The girl proved to be a trooper by going out there yesterday! It was miserable.....pouring rain. Today isn't much better except that it's not raining. Cold, 48 degrees with a 15-20 mph wind out of the north and no sunshine.....I'm not going out today either! I knew I couldn't go out on Thursday (work) and Friday so I didn't get the 4 day pass. Unfortunately, the weather has been crappy enough that I didn't get out there at all. We did manage dinner with Bob and Brenda at one of our favorite local joints on Friday evening. Just talked to Bob and they're out there freezing as we speak!

Bob and Brenda both vacated the premises right after the checkers. She just can't get over how cold it can get in Florida in January. Also, her shoes got so badly soaked yesterday that she had to buy a new pair to go out today.
In spite of it all, she reports having a great time, unfortunately not many pictures this year because she said she was shaking too hard. Yipe.
Huge congratulations to the Action Express #9 Porsche DP (which is the other Brumos under the skin) and to the Speedsource #70 Mazda GT for their class wins. It was very moving to hear Sylvan Tremblay remember his wife even in his moment of triumph. If anyone was going to beat the Lizards, I'm glad it was them.
