after waiting almost 4wks!! for a functioning mainboard, msi told me today that they can't sent me another replacement board or fix the doa 'new' board i got from them 2 weeks ago. should be getting a refund $120 sometime in 2010.. in the meantime, just purchased an ASUS gamer mainboard that supports dual core to the latest quad core cpu's, 8x usb2.0, supports linked pci-e graphics cards and has good onboard sound. should get it by week end, and be back on track soon. knock on wood

Goy Larson once told me "Asus makes motherboards, all the rest are cheap imitations". Now, I can't swear to that being totally accurate as there are a lot of good motherboards but Jim and I trusted his experience and took his suggestion to use Asus and haven't been disappointed yet. We built three machines in our last build and haven't had any probs concerning motherboards with any of the three. Hope you get her going soon Greg.

got the new asus board today ;D
still haven't heard back from the other guys..
glad i've got a couple weeks to get it sorted before istanbul; getting myself a gym membership at about the same time this started has really helped.
time to dust off the g25, greg
[glow=red,2,300]updated 2/9--still wouldn't boot even with the new board. called in the local witch doctor over at the local computer shop to start an exorcism.. this thing's got to be possessed!!
as i told paul, the running tab so far with this fix is: 1 Antec 650w power supply $100 1 EVGA 9800gt graphics card (warranty) 2 MSI Mainboards (warranty) 1 ASUS Mainboard $135
ram's checked good, cpu's ok, sata drive good--maybe maybe a grounding issue with the case..
should find out wednesday or thursday.
serenity now!

the computer gods, they must be crazy witch doctor conjured a 'rebuilt' system for me with a replacement antec 900 case, core 2 quad cpu, rma'd 7800gt card, rma'd asus mainboard and 'new' 750gb sata drive. only survivors are my ram and dvd/cd drive my original 160gb drive was fried with 'all' my racing content on it. no backup, so i'm starting over from an initial windows install. count me out of any racing for at least another 2weeks.. d**n. needless to say, think i'll be replacing the surge protector too.. this can be a cruel 'sport.' greg aka #78 miskatonic garage tech

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble Greg=( Cruel sport for sure lol. Look at the bright side, you'll have a new or close to new computer! That's a plus. Personally, I hate rebuilding the software content although it gives you a chance to "clean house" so to speak. Good luck man=)
