Never could get the LMP1 car to quit bouncing so decided to run the Elf-mobile this week, and it was a perfect match for the track. After the hamburger-all-over-the-highway race at Mosport, seemed like everyone really did well this week, and I had no incidents to report. The LMP1s were amazingly quick so I just got out of their way whenever they came up on me, ending up three laps down to the Big Guys.
Thanks to everyone who inquired about Brenda. She has a job that requires odd hours and occasionally very long ones, as was the case this week, so she simply did not have the opportunity to get in enough laps to be ready to race, but with the series going back to every other week, that shouldn't be an issue any longer and she'll definitely be back for the next race.
Great race everyone and see you all at Riverside.

Ton of fun tonite. Had a couple qualifying setups ready to go and unfortunately for me, I decided to try the riskier one first. Never did get a good lap in with that one. Reverted to the safer setup and didnt have a lot of time left so ended up qualifying P7. Disappointing as I was running 2 seconds quicker in practice. But aha.....that was in practice, gotta pull it off when it counts. Took it kinda easy off the start...trying to keep it clean. Guess about 5 minutes in, I got into Tom a bit into T3...sorry bout that, I didnt even realize it. Worked my way up to P4 by pitstops. Had been catching Dave towards the end of the stint, figured his tyres were probly shot or something. The second half of the race for me was all about Dave, me and traffic. I came out in front by .5 second or so after pitstops...yikes. Had a slight off a little later in the final complex and Dave got by. I was able to stay within 3-4 seconds after the off and tried to put in consistent laps, hoping Dave would lose his tyres again. But time was running out. To be honest, at this point, I don't even remember the pass but I musta got by as I finished P3. ;-) I do remember with just a couple laps left we came up on a big pack of traffic...that was a nervous time for sure. I gotta say that I love the 2 classes...it adds so much to the race. Also would like to add that when I flash my lights I hope that the lmp2 runners dont think I am demanding them to pull over. Just something that I think may help alert a P2 car that a P1 is coming. I also noticed that in the race report there were a few reports of contact with me and others. I really didnt feel any of them and hopefully they didnt bother anyone's race. Congrats to Don and Paul for the wins.

good qual run didn't translate into anything faster than low :18's in the race. got caught out watching my (new) mirrors for an elf sponsored dome on lap2. paul zipped by and head weasel james almost pulled me in before i snagged it off the curbing. forgot to turn off 'fix damage' and paul's 30 second lead became over a minute after my extended pitstop--doh! agree with brent on how entertaining the mixed class racing was; picking the proper line before being passed or lifting that instant earlier to clear an apex for a faster car. very cool! posted some lmp2 setups for road america/midohio in the porrs cars folder (only one smokes)
cheers, greg #78 miska

I didn't fare to well. Got an expected qualy position, and when the green went I got up to stop. Car in front had to slow down and I almost booted but came up short, whew. Traffic flew by and I was near last.
Came up on Bob Roberson and had some close running until I got to close near the end of one of the early laps. Touch Bob and unfortunitly he went off. I pulled over till he went by. Now we were way down the list. Sorry Bob. I know better and felt terrible.
Later on I lost concentration and went off to a dead stop with some tires I guess. Came out and into the pits, earlier than planned. Did it again and no hood, that's trouble. Around five min's to go and I need gas. Came out and Opps Black Flag? you got to be kidding. Well, that was the beginning of the end. Went in and there is no Stop and Go listed on my LCD. What are the rules? going through my head. Come to the pit and the boys just stand there for about 8 or so seconds and I am off at pit speed for sure. BF wont leave me alone. Gota go in again I guess. It says drive through I thought so I did and the Pit Speed of course. No luck, BF still present and the persistant notes indicate it necessary to Atend to this or its DQ. OK so I go again as a slow drive through. AS soon as I pass the S/F, DQ comes up, I close the chapter on this event.
Go upstairs and get a drink, kiss my dear and beloved and say Good Night, get ready for bed and pick up a book for the next two hours. Now that is better and maybe this is my calling.
Why no Stop and Go listed in my LCD when I need it is unclear. What to do if I had it is still unsure. Regargdless, the pit crew acted as I would expect, stand there like dumbies until the time out. What more can I ask of them and myself.
See you in a couple of weeks, I hope.

A lucky boy once again. Only this time I needed 5 more guys to have trouble (or not show up in order to break wind...er, I mean get my second wind.....dangit, get my second win! There I knew could get it right. :-) The entire race went quite smoothly for me as most of the time I was pretty much alone. No way of catching the leaders but good enough to stay ahead of the chasers. Managed to muck up another pit stop and got a black flag on exit. Thought (hoped) it was a drive through judging from the flag configuration on the screen. Scrolled thru the pit stop LCD and didn't find "stop and go" available to me so I took the chance of driving through. Fortunately, it worked.....unfortunately it dropped me back to 9th. Managed to get back up to 6th by the end and was very happy with that. If I can finish top 10 in this group I'm very pleased. Like a couple of others mentioned, I like the 2 classes and have found everyone doing a great job of driving. I've not had a problem with anyone and just have a great time racing with all of you. Let me single out Susan for special mention......you are improving in leaps and bounds. When I came up on you during the race you never wavered, held your line and continued on your way. Good job! To anyone that I might get to pass, you can be sure that I will never run over you, punt you, try to move you or anything like that unless it's by mistake. I try to be pretty careful. See y'all at Riverside.

I hope that I didn't cause anyone any grief last night. It was almost like the old N3 days. I wasn't getting warp but the sim was stuttering all night. It affected my handling and I made a lot of mistakes early on. Then I just relegated myself to just motoring around trying to stay out of trouble and out of everyone's way. I , myself, didn't have any black flags. I did have a whole ton of blue ones. Did anyone get black flagged for not moving over ? I hope not. There must be some way of fixing that. Regarding Susan, I have to say you are getting really competitive. Way to go. I have learned a lot of humility running LMP2. I used to get passed when I was running equal cars but now I know what it's like to be a "rolling chicane". And I understand the problems that accompany running against vastly superior speed. I do want to commend the LMP1 guys on their passing last night. You guys, with a couple of exceptions, were very careful I have no idea what my problem was with Mid Ohio but a couple of tests last night online with other tracks and I had no problems........ strange....................... BTW, I went to Riverside. It's going to be Mosport all over again. So you LMP1 drivers start learning patience early.....

I qualified right were I expected to be, 4th and fininshing in the same spot. I got off the line better than Kevin when the green flag dropped and was up to P2 watching Don disappear into the distance. I managed to run some clean laps but once Terry got passed the traffic he started catching me in a hurry. He did a great out braking job on me into T2 and away he went after Don. Then the next guy coming fast was Brent. My tires were going away at about the 32 minute mark and with Brent right on my tail I dived into the pits hoping for a fast pit stop. I came out in about 8th spot and after a couple of laps I seen Brent coming out of the pits and I just about out broke him into T2 but I went to deep and went wide and he was able to keep P3. Brent and I had a great battle after that. We exchanged P3/P4 about 5 times over the last 20 minutes of the race. He managed to hold me off though for the last podium spot, I finished the race with .2 gallons of gas remaining in my tank Great job to all podium people in both classes. Cya all next week. DaveS ;D

My race can be described with one word, disappointment.
I had an incredible car this week, thanks to Sandy, and had high hopes in practice. I think my best lap had me in 5th when it was over.
I ran several laps during qualifying and had the car in 3rd when I pulled into the pits. I noticed that I was only .2 - .3 behind Terry with less than 3 minutes left so I put 3 laps of fuel in the car and headed out. I was able to run a new personal best (113.915) and put the car in the 2nd spot.
When the green dropped I got the car a little sideways and had to lift so I was in P3 by T1, which was fine by me. After a few laps Terry was able to close the gap and catch me so I let him by. I was running a conservative race and didn't want to spin contesting positions so early on. Several laps later B_Curtis was also able to catch me and I let him by as well.
I ran a great race in the 1st stint and never spun or had contact with other vehicles. When I came into the pits I was in 6th spot and was able to make up some track time and came out behind Terry (4th or 5th). After about 10 minutes B_Curtis was able to catch me (traffic and such) but I decided I would race him and make him earn the pass now that time was getting short.
I held him off for one lap and as we came to T1 I looked in my mirrors and saw him 'slide off track' and was relieved because I thought I now had breathing room. But then I looked down at the bar and not only was he not behind me, no other cars were there. Needless to say I lost my connection and was done for the night. I've been having this problem in TPTCC but this was my 1st PORRS disco.
Below is what I emailed a few of the TPTCC guys, maybe someone here has an answer.
I still have not determined if the problem is with my ISP or related to rfactor. I run in 2 - 3 league races a week using NR2K3 and haven't lost connection to the server in at least 6 months. But for some reason whenever I run rfactor I am lucky if I can complete 40% of the races I start before I lose my connection.
This week I lost my connection, plus cable TV, during practice for the TPTCC race and last night I lost my connection 40 minutes into a one hour race in the PORRS series. Obviously my problem isn't restricted to the TPTCC server since it happened again last night. I have 2 NR2K3 races planned this week, so we'll see if I experience an outage during either of those....but I am sure I won't lose connection during them.
I guess I will try to plug straight into my cable modem for the next rfactor race and see if that helps. Every time I experience the problem it's like my cable modem has been reset and it takes between 3 - 5 minutes before I am able to reconnect to the internet. Is it possible that the game is overloading the cable modem and causing it to reset? I have my settings at 64k (upload and outbound) and am nervous about adjusting those values any lower manually.
For the life of me I can't figure out why this always seems to happen in rfactor and not NR2K3. Since the beginning of the month I have lost connection about 8 times and none of those happened while running NR2K3, and like I said I've been running 2 - 3 league races per week minimum. Rfactor I've been running one league race per week, now two since PORRS started, and lost connection at least 60% of the time. We've got the issue solved when it comes to the server going to race, I don't fall there anymore. I have no clue what's the cause of this disco issue and how it can be fixed.

Good race for me overall.
I didn't even have a chance to drive the new Mid-Ohio till middle of the afternoon yesterday. Came up with what turned out to be a stable set and showed up to race.
Didn't have that quick of a pace either in qual or race trim so I was happy to get P6 in qual. Start was nominal... lost one position off the grid but was happy chasing Clown Man and Tom around for a few laps. Kept it on track and was in P5 when guys started taking pit stops. I chose a long first stint and was circulating in P2 for a while during the last third of the event. Made my pit stop with about 12 minutes to go, and got out in P6 (I think) again something like 10-12 seconds off P4 and P5.
My only big mistake came with about 3 minutes to go as I got into Bob Roberson in the esses right after Madness. I don't think it cost Bob at all (if it did Bob, my apologies -- I did not estimate what your corner speed would be very well), but I spun it trying to avoid and clouted the tires. Fortunately, I had a lap on P7 at time so was able to get it home without further incident.
Will not be able to make Riverside, even though it's one of my all time favorite tracks. I absolutely love the N2003S version, and I'm sure the rFactor version and race will be great as well. I will be traveling in South Korea on the Riverside race date. My wife and I are adopting a baby boy from South Korea and are leaving in just over a week to go get him. I hope to be back with all of yas for the race after Riverside, parental responsibilities permitting of course! ;D

Larry,
If no stop and go was listed it meant you needed to do a drive thru. Did you have two red arrows in the top of your screen. If you have a drive thru penalty (usually from a pit infraction), there will be no stop and go listed. It will say Stop and Go N/A. From my experience.
I think by actually stopping in your pit confused the game to think you hadn't done the drive thru.
Kevin, check out the Kevin Con Thread

30 minute perfect race.
Started off weird and lost spots on the start but settled in for a good long run. Was running consistent after passing some folks in the P9 - P11 range. Then the 30 minutes to go message popped up and all hell broke loose. Trying to push and gain some spots on Hot Lap theory before my estimated 20 min to go pitstop. Slid off the track and got front damage, then 1 lap later back it into the wall. No choice but to pit now. 76 seconds of damage repair on top of the 23 seconds for the pitstop saw P9 turn into P13. Yeah we were running that close back there...lol.
Fade to Black, that's the last I remember of it. I think I got one or two spots back.....uggg
Great race by all.
