Well with some gentle nudging from a few ;D. For the first time in a long time we will race during the summer.
We will be using the Ford Spec Racer mod which should level the playing field immensely while lending to some great racing.
For the Fall / Winter 08/09 we will go back to a prototype mod.
So this is for having some great side by side close racing fun for the summer.
Info to follow.

OK Guys,
Start putting in your votes for tracks. This is what I am looking for, 2.3 miles or less. Should make for some fun. If it is a great track for these and it is longer than 2 miles, let me know.
Don't hate me, but I'm putting in a nod for Aardvark and Norisring ;D

Most of the aussie tracks (the ones the V8's run) would probly be good. Norisring would be awesome, dont know aardvark. Was on Ring Knutstorp the other day...lots of elevation/bumps/medium-long frontstretch, might be interesting. Will be checkin more over the next few days.

If you like Norisring, you gotta check out Pukekohe...113 mph down the backstretch into a 35 mph hairpin...ultra hi speed track with that BIG overtaking spot. Birmingham Sprint (or even the full course for that matter)...elevation, interesting corners, very well done track, one of the best looking too I think. Looks very tough for overtaking!! fun. Glen Livet Int'l 1.4 miles not much chance to get into 5th gear here but could be fun. DOnington Nat'l 1.9 miles...ultra hi speed track Varano...1.5 miles..little faster than glen livet not a bad track. There's some to check out....not sure which (hi speed vs technical) will make the best racing in these....but I put Birmingham and Pukekohe at the top. Lots of other ones out there but thats what Ive checked out so far.

If we go the way of street courses, it makes me think that Monaco should be shoe-in for consideration. I dont know if I have ever raced a league event of any type at Monaco. The one problem with street courses is I find they tend to give poor frame rates.

Just my opinion. But having driven these cars I can't see too much fun driving these cars on courses with long straights. It would get a little tedious. I never do well on technical tracks with lots of turns but nevetheless I have to vote for the street courses. Knowing full well that I'll probably be dead last.

I took the opportunity to run several tracks with this MOD last night, and I was a little disappointed. No, wait, let me explain. I have no issue with the overall speed of the car, mostly because that if all the cars are equal in that regard it will make for some very close racing. My issue is with the overall feel and handling of the car. After several laps allowing for the tires to come up to temp I felt that the handling was lacking. Just not sticking to the road as a car such as these should. I looked at the speed I was traveling compared to the radius of the turns and felt that these cars are coming up short in the grip department. I took the car weight to power ratio in consideration and the tire size to contact patch ratio and came to the conclusion that gives me the feeling of Go Cart racing down at the beach when through the luck of the draw you got stuck with the only car that has bald tires and a broken governor, always pushing to catch up, never being able to plant the front end to quickly negotiate turns, and even with lots of reduced brake pressure keeping those wheels from locking up can be a chore. And once in a slide even on pavement the car really goes for a ride seemingly un-proportional to the speed and kinetic inertia from this type of car.
This is only my first impression; I am sure as I goof around with it I may even learn to like it.

I didn't think much of it at all -- no power, no grip and you can't change the setups meaningfully. And apparently no templates to do your own paint.

I can do the templates. I was going to start on them soonest. Car, driver and helmet, depending on the complexities of the 3D modeling some times it takes longer than others.
