Speaking of up to date...I think I need to swap out a CPU...in one of my GEN 3 XPS race 'puters, it has a P4 Extreme Edition, and I have started to notice it just isn’t cutting the mustard anymore. Well all in all it is a great ‘puter, it just with the graphics and the complexities of rFactor that even it get the occasional Frame Rate Hits Not as bad now that I have replaced the aging ATI X800XT with a ATI Diamond HD 4850 video card. I think the next step is to upgrade to the highest possible CPU that that aging Mother Board can handle. So I’ll look into that here as well.
Oh, and did I mention how nice it is driving on a 40 inch HDTV? I have to admit it was a shock at first, going from the 21 inch Trinitron running at 1600 x 1200 x 32. But once you get over that initial shock it is so cool sitting in front of a monitor that is showing you the dashboard in what is close to a 1:1 scale. ( I know I mentioned this but I just like reminding you)
I’ll keep you posted on what I do…
James

Smart arse............rub it in..................... I would just be happy to have a decent picture on my 21"monitor. It is no fun trying to race with 8 and 10 FPS

Hey, we've got a Sharp 52" LCD in our theatre room running off a PS3 and a HDPVR but I don't think the wife would take to kindly to me planting my PC gear in front of it though In my Man Cave upstairs (grunting like Tim the tool man and beating my chest) I'm still running an Athlon 3200 with 2GB of memory and a ATI 1650 AGP vid card. I'm thinking it's about time for a new puter don't you, just need to convince the wife now. DaveS ;D

Brenda likes it when I upgrade because she gets the hand-me-downs. I'm looking to get a new CPU and motherboard in the next few months...

Bob, I don't mind being considered P1 regardless of the car I drive. Even if it's one of the P2 cars like the Spyder.
This is a great mod though. Looking forward to the new season!

It's cool Sandy. I wasn't complaining... I raced you a lot and I knew you were too good for us B drivers.

Update! I added a P1 Dome for Greg and P2 Domes for both Greg and Brenda. If you downloaded the Miska cars from the file area before 10:40 pm Eastern on Monday, please download again. Thanks.

I assumed that the "B" drivers would be running LMP2 cars again so I uploaded the MOMO Porsche RS and the MOMO Lola MG to the file section of PORRS.

Can anyone tell me if the physics for the P1 and P2 cars are the same and if not what the difference would be and how you determine the difference?
Thanks,
J

The P1 cars are heavier but more powerful. At most tracks, the lap timres between P1s and P2s are pretty close so it comes down to a matter of personal preference.

Wow, I think it would be easier to explain "Time Shifting" than answer this question After running both chassis's for a while I didn't find all that much of a difference between the two of them. I used basically the same setup for the P2 as I did for the P1. I believe I had to change the gearing and wing on the P2 but that was about it. As mentioned the P1's have more horsepower so have a higher top end on bigger tracks than the P2's but the P2's should be able to get around a shorter track faster than a P1. Basically comes down to your prefference. DaveS ;D

Then it would be safe to say that the physics for all of the P1s are the same and the physics for all of the P2s are the same, right? An Audi R8 setup would work in a Dome? I'm asking for the purpose of setup sharing.....hint, hint guys and girls.

Tom, I do NOT think the setups are interchangeable between the cars. The Audi is big and heavy with lots of grunt. The the Dome is lighter and more maneuverable. What works for one likely wouldn't be good at all for the other. And that's a good thing about this game -- there is a car which suits your driving style which means you don't have to...ahem...put lipstick on a pig. In the hands of someone like Sandy, the Audi is awesome. For me, it's a struggle at every turn. OTOH, he'd probably be cussing at the Dome the whole time for being twitchy and underpowered. And if you ever want a Dome setup, just ask. I'm always willing to share.
